What the site does
Tax Explained provides tax calculators and educational guides for common UK tax subjects such as employee taxes, salary sacrifice, pension contributions, savings interest, dividends and self assessment.
Who built it
Tax Explained was built by accountants to make UK tax easier to understand. We use current tax rates and thresholds, and test our calculators for accuracy. However, they cannot model every personal situation and should not replace advice from an accountant or tax adviser.
Who it is for
The site is built for ordinary people who want to get a better understanding of UK taxes or to use our calculators and tools to get estimates of tax computations. It is designed for general information only and does not constitute tax advice.
How pages are made
Calculators and guides are based on published tax rates, thresholds, and official guidance. The pages show sources and assumptions.
Pages are reviewed when rates, thresholds, or guidance change, and corrections are welcome through the contact page.
Calculator limits
Calculator results are estimates based on the values you enter and the assumptions shown on the relevant page. They may not cover every allowance, relief, benefit, regional rule, timing issue, or personal circumstance that could affect your actual tax position.
Not personal advice
Tax Explained does not provide personal financial, tax, legal, or accounting advice. For decisions about your own circumstances, check official sources or speak to a qualified adviser.
Privacy
Calculator inputs are intended to run in your browser and are not intentionally stored by Tax Explained. More detail is available in the privacy policy and cookies policy.
